Iruvar is a Tamil drama film directed by R. Aravind starring Siddharth, Shruti Haasan and Saranya Mohan in the lead roles. Produced by Mani Ratnam, the film was released on 2 December 2009 coinciding with Christmas Day. It is Mani Ratnam's first Tamil production after more than 20 years of absence from the southern language cinema industry. It is also his first movie without Hindi songs since 1987's Chandralekha. He doesn't write any lyrics for the film. It is also his debut film as producer in Tamil cinema. The story revolves around two men, one of them has a past, while the other has a future. The former (Siddharth) is caught between falling in love with his old girlfriend (Shruti Haasan), who's married to an older man (Manivannan), and falling for her daughter (Misha), who's falling for him; the latter (Saranya Mohan) is an aspiring surgeon who wants to be a part of the medical team that was raised through CPR after witnessing her father's death at work. Iruvar received mixed to negative reviews from critics. Though the movie received positive review from some media, it failed to impress the viewers and also made it to a box office failure. The film had a low occupancy and collected about . The same day of release, the film had a "warm" response at theaters and collected on its opening day. The dubbed version was released on 2 December 2010 to mixed reviews from critics and audience; however, it fared well at the Box Office.. Made in 3D by TSK Film, "Ek Tha Tiger" was released on 14 November 2011 to positive reviews. Despite the fact that the film was set up as a 3D film, it was a 2D movie. The movie received good response from critics and audience and won several awards including Best Film, Best Direction and Best Actor for Akshay Kumar.
